Moving Production Process from China to U.S.

A U.S. start-up manufacturing custom barcodes and RFID tags used adhesives supplied from overseas. The manufacturing of their RFID tags also took place at that facility. However, to shorten lead time and reduce costs, they decided to move all manufacturing to their USA facility.

Solving Manufacturing Roadblocks and Design Challenges

The customer provided specific properties of the adhesive they were looking for, and GDI Adhesives found a close match with our formula H736. The customer also had difficulty creating a precise slot die pattern, so we discussed potential equipment adjustments. We evaluated the current adhesive properties and offered sample drawdowns of our suggested formula. Once the drawdown properties were approved, we supplied a 48 lb sample case for a pilot run. Using the formula H736, the customer quickly created the RFID tags and labels previously made overseas.
